Counseling Center
Compassion takes focus away from ourselves and allows us to concentrate on others, our society and our world. Respecting and serving the greater good around us strengthens character, builds community and revives relationships, connecting people together.
Based upon a belief that the sources of difficulty in our lives lie not solely within ourselves but also within our relationships with others, the California Family Counseling Center (CalFam) helps guide clients to explore their full potential and to determine their paths with care and compassion. For almost thirty five years, CalFam has been a force of healing in our community helping thousands of individuals and families lead more functional and productive lives.
On a weekly basis, CalFam counsels hundreds of individuals, couples, families, children, adolescents and seniors. In a group or individual setting, trainees, interns and licensed professionals provide a wide range of services in several languages. With a variety of public service and outreach programs, CalFam is a vital resource in the emotional and mental stability of our community-at-large.
An excellent resource in the practical training of students, CalFam provides Phillips students and graduates with exceptional opportunities to gain counseling experience through traineeships and internships. CalFam training programs include Child Therapy in Schools, Latino Family Therapy, Alcohol and Chemical Dependency and Postmodern Therapy. CalFam is a vital link in Phillips’ overall commitment to helping people find their passion and change the world, one individual, one relationship at a time.
