About CalFam

Since 1971, the California Family Counseling Center has been providing a safe, compassionate and confidential place for personal counseling and support. Committed to diversity, CalFam offers accessible and affordable services to the community. Fees are based on a client’s ability to pay.

The Center is located at 5445 Balboa Blvd., Encino, CA 91316. To make an appointment, call the Intake Coordinator at 818-386-5615.

How do I know if therapy is right for me?
You can call for a free consultation with the Intake Coordinator at 818-386-5615 to help determine if CalFam can help.

Do you take Medi-cal or Medi-care?

No.

Do you take insurance?
Yes, the provisions of your policy will determine if benefits are applicable.

What are your hours?
Monday-Thursday, 8:00 am to 9:00 pm, Friday and Saturday 8:00 am to 5:00 pm.

Do you prescribe medication?

No, however, we can refer you to a medical doctor.

My child is having behavioral problems in school, can you help him/her?
Yes, CalFam therapists have specific training and experience working with children and adolescents.

How much does it cost for therapy?
The fee is based on a sliding scale. Fees are as low as $20 per session.

How long is a session?
A session is 50 minutes.

What languages do the counselors speak?
CalFam counselors speak Spanish, Farsi, Arabic, English and other languages.

Do you offer support groups?
Yes, CalFam offers both psycho-educational and support groups such as Anger Management for Adults, Parenting Skills, Men’s Group for Ending Domestic Violence, and others. Call the Intake Coordinator at 818-386-5615 for an update or additional information.

Do you offer court-referred or mandated service?
Yes, CalFam has individual and group counseling for court-referred clients.

How long does therapy take?
Therapy is based on individual need. Some therapy is short term (1-6 sessions) and other therapy lasts longer. Your therapist will talk with you and develop a specific plan.


DONATIONS
CalFam is a non-profit counseling center, offering many low-cost services to the community for over 35 years. In order to provide these services, CalFam depends on grants and donations from individuals and businesses. All donations are tax deductible and deeply appreciated.
